Kreative Nexus for Innovations and Traditions
KNIT stands for Kreative Nexus for Innovations and Traditions — a creative nexus where heritage and innovation meet.
The initial K in both KNIT and KONSTELLATION carries another, more personal meaning. It connects us to four names associated with Niigata and the wider Hokuriku region of Japan. Each represents a different geographical or historical scale — from the founder’s hometown to a much older regional identity.
- Kamo
- A city in Niigata Prefecture, on Japan’s Sea of Japan coast, and the hometown of our founder.
- Kenoh
- Literally “central prefecture,” the contemporary name for the central Niigata area that includes Kamo and neighboring communities.
- Kanbara
- A historical name for a region of Niigata, closely associated with the broad Niigata Plain and its rivers, farming communities, and local cultures.
- Koshi
- An ancient regional name linked to the Sea of Japan side of Japan, spanning areas of present-day Niigata and Hokuriku. Its legacy also lives on in the name Koshihikari, a well-known Japanese rice variety.
These are not four identical kinds of place name, nor do they describe a single set of historical borders. Together, they express a widening sense of belonging. Our perspective begins in a specific place, but our work is meant to cross borders and create connections beyond it.
KNIT suggests weaving together people, cultures, knowledge and expertise. KONSTELLATION evokes a constellation — distinct points that reveal new possibilities through connection. Together, they express how we turn relationships across disciplines into creative work and meaningful ventures.

Culture is more than something we inherit. It's something we carry forward.
Beyond Boundaries. Creating Connections.Rooted in place, open to the world.
Culture is what we inherit, reimagine, and carry forward.
We cross borders between places and industries, heritage and innovation, culture and business. We then connect the people, knowledge and perspectives we encounter. Working across music, media, design and communities, we seek to create experiences and initiatives that remain meaningful beyond the moment.
From concept to context.
We start by understanding the purpose and the people involved. We develop the concept, assemble suitable collaborators and connect creative decisions with the practical requirements of production and delivery.
